CMCS Newsletter for November 2019
Dear CMCS-Men, Donors and Friends,

Hope you’ve had a meaningful Thanksgiving, and that you’re ready to prepare for Advent. Much has happened since we last wrote to you. So we'll share with you the four main points, and you can fill in the gaps if you wish on the CMCS newsletter archive online at  List.CMCSVirtues.org

Preparing for Advent – The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and also to the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on Christmas.

It is a time to “stay awake” and seek how God wants you to be an example of your relationship with Him and His Word while we await His return. As Catholic men, husbands, or fathers, as well our first ministry is to get our family to heaven.

To help with all of this, visit the latest post on the Catholic Chicago Men Blog: How will you remain faithful to daily prayer this Advent season? - Welcoming Jesus to reconcile the world.

Throughout Advent you also might want to follow along on the Blog, on the CMCS Online Forum, also on Twitter, and on the CMCS LinkedIn Page for prayers and resources.

Men’s Forum – The Bishop Perry's Catholic Chicago Men's Forum wil be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020. They Keynote speaker will be Fr. Richard Simon from St. Labbert Parish in Skokie, IL. Bishop Perry will also celebrate the closing Mass with homily. Hot breakfast will be served, as usual, we feed your stomach and then feed your Soul. Seating is available now, along with more information here

Yes, we are doing this earlier than usual, so that you have some time to talk this over with other men at your parish and fill a table (or bring a bus load) to join you. Please consider your prayer time during Advent to contemplate how you can best help other men in your parish with their spiritual journey, and thus grow in your own holiness together with them.

2019 Fall Appeal Update - You Did It! You helped CMCS meet our financial goals to cover the seed money for the Men's Forum, as well as the expenses to carry this apostolate through the first quarter of 2020. Last week saw the largest number of donations, and dollar amounts, which took our goal over the top! The words 'ThankYOU!" do not begin to describ how grateful we feel and are!

For those of you who have not sent in your gift before and would still like to, online or by mail, click here. You may also use the address below to write your check, or send through your bank online bill pay tool. Thank you!

CMCS is an Illinois State recognized nonprofit, and is not an IRS-certified charity. No revenue is generated by advertising, and funded only by individual support. Operation of CMCS is debt free, and administration is done by the CMCS-Team who gain no financial benefit from their engagement for this apostolate. Donations above CMCS expenses contribute towards the part-time work of the director.

Testimolinals
“CMCS has been a great help in my walk with Christ on a daily basis.  I am surrounded by secular surroundings everyday and CMCS brings me “home.”  This group of men keep me grounded and express charity and humility, which is not easy to find these days.  The opportunity to listen to the wisdom of Bishop Perry is always enlightening and helps me in my growth in understanding the beauty of the Catholic faith.”

Tim

“My benefit from CMCS comes from the community of men I gather with and, our shared, interests, desires, and struggles with leading a Christian life.  Our community helps me realize that I am not alone as I strive to be a servant of God.  In this age where we race from chore to chore, and responsibility to responsibility CMCS provides me an opportunity to take time and think about God.  A time to step back to think about where I am at, where I have been, and where I want to be in God’s eyes when I enter eternity.  Of course the wisdom and guidance provided to us through the words of Bishop Perry are as the commercial says ………….. PRICELESS.”
